Coaching is often a game changer for most leaders. Have you heard the phrase it takes a village to raise a child? Well that adage is true for great leaders and organization too. It takes a team to cultivate and maximize the results of both leaders and organizations. Most successful senior executives in private industry and government have a personal leadership coach; in addition to mentors, peer support, and developmental programs and initiatives. Additionally, teams and groups can embark on a coaching journey as a unit. Often teams and groups focus on achieving a particular goal(s) or growth area. Examples can include assessment based individual and collective growth, project or initiative activities, role based development and assignments.
Through a coaching relationship, the coach partners with the client to explore, assess, strategically plan, execute, and monitor actions that align with their individual or group goals, professional/business goals and aspirations, and purpose in life. A genuine and powerful bond of respect, compassion, encouragement, empowerment, and accountability is cultivated. Clients are expected to "do the hard work" to achieve their goals and objectives and the coach does their part to help the client to dig an dig deeper; press and press harder; move and keep moving forward into what they are striving for. Accountability is essential! With a commitment to do the work, clients often exceed their own expectations and meet or surpass their outlined goals and objectives.
